Invitation to Schools

We are excited to share with you that the Essex Youth Orchestra will be presenting a magical live performance for families and schools in December.

The concert will be an interactive introduction to the world of orchestral music shown through the music of legendary film composer, John Williams. We will travel through space, explore the musical world of Harry Potter and share a journey with ET. During the concert we will also hear some of the songs included in the film ‘Home Alone’. Join in if you wish!

There are several ways to join us for this magical concert:

  • Bring primary aged pupils to the primary performance
  • Bring secondary aged pupils to the secondary performance
  • SEND schools are welcome to apply for the performance that best suits your needs, or speak to us for further information
  • Bring your school choir to perform the ‘Home Alone’ songs at the evening performance. There will be a short rehearsal for choirs before the performance.

Your pupils will see musicians perform live, discover the sounds and colours of the orchestra and to sing along with a full symphony orchestra.

How can we be involved?

Watch a performance

Join us for a school’s performance in the afternoon where we will introduce pupils to the orchestra in an interactive session. We will also provide you with activities and lesson ideas to prepare your pupils for the performance and to continue the adventure back at school.

Sing at a performance

We are looking for school choirs to perform the ‘Home Alone Medley’ at the public performances. Pupils will sing backed by a full symphony orchestra and part of a truly wonderful live-music experience for them and their families.

What to do now?

There is no cost for Essex DfE funded schools to take part in this opportunity, either to watch the performance or for choirs to take part. There will be a cost for parents to attend the performance in the evening, and you will need to arrange transport to the event.

If you would like to be either attend or perform, please click the links to complete the expression of interest form.
