Young musicians from across Essex showcased the strength of music education in our county this summer, performing to international audiences as part of the prestigious Cremona Summer Festival in northern Italy.

Members of the Essex Youth Orchestra (EYO) and Essex Youth Jazz Orchestra (EYJO) travelled to Italy in August, where they delivered acclaimed performances that were praised by local media and warmly received by festival audiences. EYO performed a demanding repertoire of classical works by Strauss, Sibelius, Prokofiev and Tchaikovsky, while EYJO impressed with a dynamic programme of big band favourites and contemporary jazz.

Alongside rehearsals and concerts, the young musicians enjoyed a range of cultural experiences, including a visit to the Museo del Violino, a boat trip on Lake Garda and time at Gardaland theme park. The tour highlights the value of providing young people with high-quality musical opportunities that build confidence, develop skills and broaden horizons. It also reflects the continued commitment of the Greater Essex Music Hub to supporting outstanding musical progression and performance opportunities for young people across the region.
